In January of 2005, Joey had a beautiful son at the age of 27. About a year and a half into his son’s life, he found himself as a single dad and as the primary care giver of his little boy. He worked as a Store Manager of Starbucks which allowed him to coordinate his schedule with the help of his parents and his son’s mother so that he could be with his baby most hours of the day.
They had a fantastic time together. They went on road trips to Disney Land and Lego Land as well as San Diego Zoo and many Oakland Zoo and Monterey Bay Aquarium trips. They always had a blast wherever they went even if that meant they hung out at home or went to the local park. Being a single dad has taught him how to interact with young children and it is his passion to be around his kids especially but also kids in general.
Stephanie has spent most of her life around kids. At the age of 12 Stephanie’s little brother was born. She took a big role in caring for her little brother. Since then she has had many babysitting and nanny jobs, as well as worked in a group home helping abused teenage girls while attending college. In addition to working with kids professionally, she also has volunteered with childcare and youth groups in churches and went on a mission trip to Haiti in 2010 to work in an orphanage with the most beautiful children she had ever met. Stephanie has always loved kids of all ages and that love has only gotten stronger in having her own.
In December 2011, Stephanie and Joey met at Starbucks which was the beginning of what is now a very happy marriage and family. In 2013, they married and then later in the year, welcomed their first child. In February of 2016, they welcomed their 2nd child and in October of 2019, they had another baby, Gabriela. They now have 4 beautiful children together in their home.
After the birth of their middle son, they decided that it would be best if Stephanie were able to stay home and care for their children. In that decision, they got licensed to have a day care in their home. The decision to watch other children was to socialize their young children, teaching them to share and be kind to others, but also for financial reasons. We love kids but this is also a job to us. We take raising children very seriously. We do not consider this a babysitting job however, to us it is a place for kids to learn and grow in a healthy/fun environment where they are taught to respect each other, to learn how to play together and to learn fun lessons.
Joey has an MBA from St. Mary’s College and Stephanie has a BA from Vanguard University. We are both educated and believe that education begins at birth. We believe that it can be made into fun activities, such as singing songs together, reading stories, playing outside and learning arts and crafts. We also believe that kids thrive in structured environments where they know what to expect. We have scheduled mealtimes as well as activities to allow the children to feel secure.
We always honor the requests of parents as to when and how to introduce foods (as babies) and milestones such as potty training, which we will gladly assist with.
